This was our team’s second year to participate in United Way’s Day of Caring, a day dedicated to recognizing the community’s non-profit agencies. People and businesses from all around town spend the day partnered up with a non-profit to assist in service projects.

For us, this is a day that we look forward to. It is a great way to spend quality time with the team as well as do something great for a community that continues to do so much for us! We were thrilled to find out that we would be partnered with Meals on Wheels, a program that provides nutritious meals delivered daily to the homes of seniors and individuals with disabilities. We spent the day putting together emergency care packages filled with non-perishable items donated by Norman Regional. Then we were handed a delivery route and off we went!

Delivering these care packages to some of Norman’s senior citizens was a pretty rewarding experience. I can’t tell you how many “thank yous” and “God bless yous” we received. It felt more than just delivering food; it felt like we were providing a sense of security, support and a form of social interaction to each person and family we met. It was a day our team truly appreciated and valued.

We would like to say a huge thank you to United Way of Norman, Meals on Wheels and our community’s non-profits that provide opportunities and give assistance to those who need it most. We can’t wait to see who we are paired up with next year!
